rowhouse addition, jersey city

The owners of this one-family rowhouse, located in Jersey City’s Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood, wanted a new dining addition along with second floor access to the rear yard of their home.

The design language of the small addition is in contrast, yet complimentary to the existing house. A continuous row of skylights allow uninterrupted views of the building’s existing brick façade which becomes the interior dividing wall between the old house and the new addition.

The materials used include ground face, polished concrete block, teak and aluminum. These materials compliment the color and texture of the existing brick at the second floor.
